Artist's Description

The photo references for this painting were taken at the annual Indian Festival held in Macon, Georgia at the Muskogee Indian Mounds. Jimmy Sawgrass is a member of the Florida Muskogee Creek Tribe who demonstrates, teaches and advises the movie industry on authentic Indian traditions. Here he is showing how a throwing stick was used for hunting. The maiden in the painting is wearing a beautifully tanned pale deerskin dress that would have been worn for a special occasion, such as a wedding. The Grand Mound, an earthen ceremonial lodge, is in the background.
